Biography

Chris Albertyn brings a diverse background in program management, research coordination, and clinical trials to his role as Program Manager for the Canadian Network for Psychedelic Assisted Cancer Therapy (CANPACT) at the University of Calgary. Over the past decade, Chris has worked across academic, healthcare, and community sectors, building collaborative teams and supporting innovative research aimed at improving patient and public health outcomes. With a PhD focused on translational precision medicine from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience in the UK - specifically in neuropsychiatry and psychopharmacology - he offers highly relevant expertise to the CANPACT initiative, ensuring that cutting-edge research is effectively translated into meaningful clinical applications.

In his role with CANPACT, Chris is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of this national, multi-institutional initiative. He works closely with researchers, clinicians, and partner organizations to coordinate project activities, facilitate communication, and ensure that CANPACT’s ambitious goals are met. Chris is actively involved in developing strategic partnerships, supporting grant management, and helping to translate research findings into clinical practice. His hands-on approach and commitment to fostering a collaborative environment are central to driving the network’s success.

Chris’s personal goal with CANPACT is to help create a supportive, patient-centered research community that advances the science and practice of psychedelic-assisted therapies for people affected by cancer. He is passionate about making cancer care more compassionate and holistic, and is inspired by the opportunity to help bridge innovative research with real-world impact for patients and families.
