What is Psilocybin?

Psilocybin is the naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in over 200 species of “magic mushrooms.” Once ingested, the body converts psilocybin into psilocin, which binds to serotonin receptors in the brain and produces about four to six hours of altered consciousness that can include enhanced emotions, sensory changes, and meaningful personal insights. Although long used in traditional healing ceremonies, psilocybin is now being researched under carefully controlled conditions for potential benefits in depression, anxiety, addiction, and cancer-related distress (including CAN-PACT!).
